There are a million things I love about Christmas but my very favorite part is {Giving Back}
to those that need a “little extra love” this holiday season.
{Sugar Plum Fairy Collection}
When Danielle from {A Few of My Favorite Things} asked for help with Project Secret Santa benefiting Jack’s Toy Drive – I knew this was the best place to help. Jack’s Toy Drive is such a wonderful cause and it is very close to my heart as well. My son was born 6 weeks early. He was a perfect bundle of joy and completely healthy. I was very lucky he was ready to come home immediately. I know however there are many parents that spend a good portion of time in the NICU with their babies.
Jack’s Toy Drive was set up in memory of Jackson Malia that spent his first and last Christmas in the NICU of Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The hospital made their Christmas very special and his parents started Jack’s Toy Drive to help other children who will wake up in hospitals this Christmas morning. Last year’s toy drive gathered more than 200 toys. This year through Project Secret Santa, AFOMFT, would like to help Jack’s Toy Drive top that number.
Here’s how it will work: Over the new few weeks, Danielle will be sharing recipes, craft projects and party planning suggestions to help you throw your own Secret Santa Party. But instead of buying gifts for other guests, we’re suggesting that you ask your guests to buy gifts to donate to Jack’s Toy Drive. And you can do that two ways – Jack’s Toy Drive has an Amazon Wish List of toys that can be purchased and shipped directly to the charity or you can collect your own. Maybe ask everyone to bring a teddy bear or something that fits your theme. If you live in the New Jersey area, Jack’s Toy Drive culminates on December 11th with a Breakfast with Santa at the Bloomfield Fire House where you can come and drop off all of your donations. For AFOMFT readers who collect toys during Project Secret Santa and live outside of the New Jersey area, Danielle will provide pre-paid shipping labels so you can mail them to the Jackson Malia Fund to be distributed. Oh and if giving back isn’t incentive enough, the reader who collects the most toys will win a $100 American Express Gift Card! That girl is great right?!
So I wanted to help Danielle with her cause a bit more and she suggested I create a
{DIY Kid’s Tablescape for a Secret Santa Party} and boy did I have fun!
I wanted to keep the items fun, bright and easy for each of you to purchase.
My next stop was – TARGET!
When you are creating tablescapes always remember layers make the look complete. I wanted bright festive colors to match my {Sugar Plum Fairy Collection} and the Dollar Section of Target was the best stop to start.
I was able to find ornaments, balls, pink tree with skirt and lipgloss for the stockings.
I started out with a kids table and layered a tablecloth over it
{helpful hint – iron the skirt and the look is better}.
Then I tied up the ends with a boa and tulle. Next I added a tutu and tree skirt as the place-mat for the kids. The backdrop was covered in a linen fabric and I added Poms in matching colors with ornaments.
Don’t be afraid to mix and match the dishware for the table.
For this setting, I chose a pink damask and teal polka dot set.
With the lime sequin placemat and tutu layer – the look was perfect!
Then I spent time decorating my hot pink tree by adding sparkle, glitter, lollipops, and crowns.
Finally, make sure to choose a menu that is perfect for the theme of the party.
For this collection, what was better than Ice Cream Sundaes with lots of sprinkles!
Always remember to make your holiday parties fun for everyone!
Please support Project Secret Santa. The preemie babies will love you!
