PARTIES WITH STYLE + CHARM

How To Host A Fourth of July Party

The Fourth of July is a celebration and joyful time. Hot summer weather, picnics with family and friends and fireworks, all make the day memorable. With picnic-friendly meals and a few simple decorations, you can arrange your Fourth of July Independence Day celebration to celebrate this American holiday.

Start Planning and Organizing

1. Invitations

Invite people 3-4 weeks before the party. Avoid waiting until the last day to invite friends and loved ones. They will not have the ability to make it as they may have made other plans for the day.

  • If you are mailing your invitations, send them at least 4 weeks in advance to allow for possible delivery delays.
  • You can send the electronic invitation through some online sites such as Evite. Electronic invites are great when the time is running out since they will arrive instantly as soon as you send them!

2. Cleaning And Setting Up

Tidy up your home and yard. Make sure that your guests will be comfortable by completing any yard work and cleaning your house a few days before the party.

Borrow extra seating, if necessary. Based on how many people you have invited for the Fourth of July Celebration, you may need tables or more seating. Save some money and borrow everything you can from family or friends.

  • Tables and lawn chairs work great both indoors and outside.
  • You could encourage your guests to bring picnic blankets to sit out.

3. Weather Forecast

Develop a contingency plan for inclement weather. Make the arrangements before the party to move inside if the weather turns bad on the Fourth of July.

  • Push furniture against the walls, if necessary, to make space for guests to mingle inside.
  • Select an alternative cooking method for any food that would have been grilled outside. Grill pans or indoor griddles are just one option.
  • Strategy to see the televised fireworks show if rain or thunderstorms keep you from performing your own fireworks or attending a different show.

Selecting the Food

1. Purchase affordable easy-to-grill foods

Burgers and hot dogs are fantastic alternatives for a Fourth of July cookout. In actuality, the Fourth happens to be the most admired holiday for serving hot dogs! You can purchase frozen hamburger patties to save time and money.

  • Consider including a vegetarian choice, such as veggie burgers for the guests who are pure vegetarian.
  • Fish and steak are delicious possibilities but cost a whole lot more. Keep your party cheap and stick to hot dogs and burgers.
  • Ask guests to come up with a side dish or snack to share. You can save expenses by having guests bring something to pass around, save money on meals. Ideas include baked beans, fries, salad, or dessert. Guests can also bring ice or beverages.

2. Organize a potluck

An exciting way to get everyone engaged in the Fourth of July party is to have a potluck in which everyone brings a meal to share. Your visitors can bring, and everyone can enjoy the pleasure of discovering the various foods.

A potluck can save expenses and time since everyone is currently donating a dish. You can grill burgers, and hot dogs as your contribution to the potluck, or you can do other things and skip the grilling.

3. Pick desserts that are easy in shapes or colors

You can contribute to the festive Fourth of July theme by making desserts that are blue, white, and red.

  • Offer your guests strawberries and blueberries with whipped cream for a simple red, white, and blue treat.
  • Use star-shaped cookie cutters to cut angel food cake then top with blue and red berries and whipped cream.
  • Order or make your own cake or American flag cookies.

4. Buy all the food you’ll serve beforehand

Avoid the stress of last-minute shopping and start buying the food to your party within the week proceeding to the Fourth of July.

Selecting The Decorations

1. Choose simple decorations

Decorating your house and/or lawn for the Fourth of July is a fun and terrific way to produce a festive atmosphere. You don’t need to do anything complicated.

Go to a dollar shop for inexpensive decorations, such as blue, white, and blue pinwheels and mini American flags or streamers.

Cut star shapes from blue, red, and white construction paper. Make a hole at the top of each one and tie a string and hang around the house or yard.

2. Buy white supplies for eating

White, red, and blue plates and napkins are patriotic, but they tend to cost more than plain supplies. Stick to plastic cutlery, paper plates, and napkins to save money. Your decorations will be sufficient to make a festive atmosphere.

3. Let the kids do the decorating

Providing materials for the children to decorate will keep them amused during the day while anticipating the fireworks display.

  • Use white butcher paper as a table cover and allow the children to decorate it with markers or blue, white, and red crayons.
  • Have the children draw illustrations of bright fireworks and display them in the house or the backyard.

Arranging the Entertainment

1. Set up an outdoor game area

You do not need to wait until the day fireworks to have fun on the Fourth of July. Include some outdoor activities ready to entertain your guests as you socialize and eat.

  • Establish a badminton or volleyball net.
  • Borrow, build, or purchase a console game (also called a bean bag toss). This is wonderful for children and adults.
  • Borrow a croquet set from a friend or relative if you don’t have one
  • Give frisbees, soft nerf football for guests to toss around.

2. Buy an affordable kiddie pool or slip and slide

A Little plastic kiddie pool is a simple way to keep the children refreshed and entertained throughout the day. Bouncy Water Slides or Slip & Slides can be fun for adults and children!

3. Provide sparklers for everybody

fireworks and sparklers for everyone

Use sparklers once it starts getting dark. Children and adults both can enjoy them while waiting for the fireworks display.

4. Make fireworks plan

You can choose to light your personal Fireworks if it’s legal to light off your fireworks where you reside.  Employ safety measures when lighting your own fireworks, and have buckets of running water or hose close by in the event of a fire. Fire extinguishers work too.  If you have fireworks leftover keep them in a dry safe place, out of reach from little children, and use the remaining fireworks for your New Year’s Eve party!!

Attend your nearby fireworks show or see the televised fireworks display.
