If you have not met, Cineca of Dreamin N Details, you absolutely must! She has a heart of gold and a passion for all things party. She graciously offered to contribute Fourth of July inspiration to the Spring/Summer issue of Tots to Teens Magazine.
4th of July is the perfect holiday to celebrate with family, friends, fun & food! What better way to bring people together than with a traditional backyard Bar-B-Que?! You can easily transform a backyard into an Independence Day Celebration using a few easy to find, and often times, household items. Red and blue bandannas, mason jars, twine, gingham, flags, wild flowers and tin cans can be used to give your BBQ the perfect 4th of July SPARK. Break out the grill, whip up some delicious red, white & blue desserts, create a festive atmosphere using stars & stripes…and enjoy the CELEBRATION!
A fun Welcome Sign makes your guests feel at home and the star pinwheels say ‘Its time to celebrate!’ Nothing sets a festive 4th of July tone like displaying the Flag. It can be hung as a perfect backdrop or draped over a table as a tablecloth. The stars and stripes theme can be carried throughout the party in your centerpieces, banners, decor, and food displays. Layering red, white and blue candy is an easy way to add pops of color to your table, and dressing up used tin cans with craft paper and wild flowers creates a unique and beautiful centerpiece.
My favorite part of a BBQ is the delicious food! You can keep the food simple, yet easily jazz it up with a few special touches! Cheeseburgers and hot dogs are a 4th of July must-have. Your guests will love loading their burgers up with all of their favorite toppings, and hot dogs can be dressed up with pieces of fabric, ribbon or twine. And what BBQ would be complete without a few traditional side dishes?! Grilled corn on the cob can be customized with flavored butters…garlic, citrus or Cajun, for example. Instead of potato salad, consider individual servings of herbed potato wedges. And of course, you can’t forget the barbecue baked beans. Try adding bacon, brown sugar, ketchup and mustard to canned baked beans for a zesty kick.
Now 4th of July BBQ would not be complete without the sweet treats! A delicious berry trifle is refreshing and so easy to make. It can be served in a trifle bowl or in individual glasses. Simply layer whipped cream, strawberries and blueberries for a beautiful red, white and blue dessert. Another classic 4th of July dessert is pie. Mini pies make an adorable presentation and can be made from any of your favorite fruits. Cupcakes and cookies can also be decorated to match the red, white and blue theme, and are always a big hit! I hope you have found some fun ideas & inspiration so that you can create your own Traditional 4th of July Celebration! Happy Independence Day…and Happy BBQing!
